Origin and history

The hotel of Vaudricourt is a private hotel located in Sens, in the department of Yonne in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built between the 16th and 18th centuries, it illustrates the architectural evolution of the aristocratic residences of this period. Several of its elements, including the entrance gate, the courtyard with its well, the facades, the roofs (with the exception of the one on garden) and two 18th century woodwork rooms, were inscribed in historical monuments by order of 21 May 1947.

The 1947 protection highlights the hotel's heritage value, including its 18th century woodwork, typical of the decorative refinement of the period. These elements, combined with the general structure of the hotel, offer a testimony of the art of living of local elites under the Old Regime and at the beginning of the modern period.

The hotel's precise address, 4 Abélard Street in Sens, is referenced in the Merimée base, confirming its anchoring in the city's historic urban fabric. Although the sources do not specify its current use (visit, rental, accommodation), its status as a historical monument makes it a place of interest for the preservation of Burgundy heritage.
