Origin and history

Hotel des Bouliers is a private hotel located in the village of Vaugines, in the department of Vaucluse. Its construction dates back to the seventeenth century, although sources evoke an origin related to Georges de Bouliers, Prior and Lord of Vaugines between 1508 and 1548. This anteriority suggests a possible reconstruction or major transformation in the next century, typical of noble buildings of the time.

The heritage value of the building includes its façade and roofs, as well as an adorned monumental fireplace on the first floor. These elements were classified as historical monuments by order of 11 October 1984, stressing their architectural and historical importance. The precise address, 64 Rue des Amazones, and its Insee code (84140) confirm its anchoring in the urban fabric of Vaugines.

The Hôtel des Bouliers illustrates the role of private hotels in the provençal villages of the seventeenth century, often linked to influential local figures such as lords or clergymen. These residences reflected the social status of their owners while integrating remarkable decorative elements, such as this carved chimney, symbol of wealth and power. Their preservation today offers a tangible testimony to the architectural and social history of the region.
