Hotel Floréal, also known as Hôtel de Desfontaine de Fresnoy, is a building located at 56 rue de Paris in Valenciennes, in the Nord department. This building, whose facades and roofs of the wing on street and courtyard, as well as the large dining room with its woodwork, were classified as Historic Monument by decree of 31 January 1946, bears witness to an architecture preserved and valued for its heritage. Valenciennes, town of Nord-Pas-de-Calais (now Hauts-de-France), has had an urban history marked by Flemish and French influences.
Private hotels, such as Hotel Floréal, often reflect the prestige of local bourgeois or aristocratic families. These residences, built between the 17th and 19th centuries, served as both a place of life and a social representation, illustrating the status of their owners in a city that was growing economically and culturally.
