Origin and history

The Hotel Fyot-de-Mimeure is a private hotel located in the preserved area of Dijon, 23 rue de l'Admiral Roussin. Built in 1562 by Marc Fyot, it represents a remarkable example of Burgundy Renaissance architecture. Its facades, inscribed in historical monuments since 1925, illustrate the artistic know-how of the period, with an attribution of the facade to architect Hugues Sambin, a major figure of the Renaissance in Burgundy.

The building is part of the architectural heritage of Dijon, marked by a period of economic and cultural prosperity in the 16th century. The private hotels of this time reflect the influence of local elites, often linked to trade, justice or the administration of the Duchy of Burgundy. Their construction met a desire for social affirmation, combining Italian aesthetics and local traditions.

The protection of the Hotel Fyot-de-Mimeure in 1925 underlines its heritage importance, although only its exteriors (façades) have been officially recognized. Today, there is still a testimony of the Dijon urban planning of the Renaissance, in a preserved area where historical habitat and contemporary life coexist.
