Origin and history

The Beaucaire Hotel, listed as a Historical Monument, is a remarkable example of 18th century civil architecture. Its street façade is distinguished by its small tile carpentry, its entrance door decorated with a sculpted key representing a head of Hercules topped by the lion's skin, as well as the wrought ironwork of its balcony and its gargoyles in the shape of lion's heads. These elements give the building an elegant and imposing character, typical of the architectural style of the period.

On the back, two fronts on the courtyard have fitted lintel windows, whose supports are ousted and decorated with balusters. A stone balcony, supported by four large consoles, has an open balustrade. Inside, the honour staircase, spread over two floors, is particularly remarkable for its ironwork ramp, illustrating the artisanal know-how of the eighteenth century.

The Hotel was partially protected by an order of 23 November 1946, specifically covering its facades on courtyard and street, as well as its internal staircase. Today, the building belongs to a private company, and its current use (visits, rentals, etc.) is not specified in the available sources. Its exact location, at 8 bis rue de l'Hôtel-de-Ville in Beaucaire, is confirmed by data from the Merimée database and GPS coordinates.
