Origin and history

The Hotel, located at 3 rue de la Madeleine in Toulouse, is an emblematic monument of the sixteenth century, marked by its history linked to the Toulouse elites. Acquired in 1536 by capitoul Pierre Parrassy with Guillaume de Tornié, then second president of the Toulouse Parliament, this building illustrates the social prestige of its owners. The courtyard, formerly a garden, gives access to a three-storey building: ground floor and two floors, whose east and west facades retain Gothic windows, while some openings on the first floor were redesigned in the 18th century.

The Hotel's lower room, capped "à la française", houses a monumental Renaissance-style fireplace, decorated with a tympanum with the coat of arms of Pierre Parrassy. These coats of arms, described as "of Azure with the dove of silver flying, bearing a twig of gold, accompanied at the tip of a sea waved with silver, to the chief of Azure charged with three stars of gold", symbolize his status as capitul. The left wing on courtyard, characteristic of Toulouse civil architecture, was classified by decree on 24 June 1935, highlighting its heritage value.

The building reflects the architectural influences of its era, mixing late Gothic and Renaissance, typical of aristocratic or bourgeois residences in southwestern France. Its acquisition by a capitoul – a Toulouse municipal magistrate – testifies to the political and economic role of these elites in the city in the 16th century. Today, the Hotel remains a preserved example of this heritage, although its access and current uses (visits, rentals) are not specified in the available sources.
