Origin and history

Hotel Lebourguignon-Duperré is an iconic building located at 13 rue des Croisiers in Caen, Calvados, Normandy. Built in the second half of the seventeenth century, it is a typical example of the civil architecture of this period. Its facade, consisting of five spans separated by flat pilasters, has been listed as the Historic Monuments since 13 June 1927.

The hotel was acquired around 1763 by Constantin Le Bourguignon du Perré de Lisle, born in Caen in 1740. A lawyer of formation, he became king's adviser and lawyer at the bailiwick and presidial seat of Caen in 1766. He lived in this hotel until his death in 1804, thus marking the history of this place by his notable occupation.

The location of the hotel, 130 metres north of the Church of Saint-Sauveur in Caen, reinforces its anchoring in the historical and architectural heritage of the city. The protection of its façade in 1927 underscores its heritage importance and its interest in local history.
