Origin and history
Hotel Petit de Ruffey is a private hotel located in the protected area of the city of Dijon, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built between the 15th and 18th centuries, it illustrates the architectural evolution of the region through these periods. Its facades and roofs on street, as well as its interior staircase, testify to its heritage importance.
The building was partially listed as historical monuments by order of 31 December 1979. This protection specifically concerns the façade, the roof on street and the interior staircase, as indicated in the Merimée base. The official address of the hotel is 23 Berbisey Street, although some sources also mention 44 of the same street.
The Hotel Petit de Ruffey is located in a preserved urban context, typical of Burgundy cities where private hotels reflected the social status of their owners. In Dijon, these residences were often linked to the aristocracy or the local bourgeoisie, playing a role in the economic and cultural life of the city. Their architecture mixed medieval and classical influences, depending on the times of construction or renovation.
