Origin and history

The Peysseguin Hotel is an urban residential building located in the old town centre of La Reole, at 9 Peysseguin Street, close to the old town hall square. It consists of two bodies of irregularly planed buildings, connected by an entrance, and overlooks a rectangular courtyard at the back. A square staircase tower, typical of medieval architecture, is attached to the main building. This building, of medieval origin, underwent major alterations in the 19th century, especially in its interiors, reflecting the evolution of the lifestyles and architectural tastes of this time.

The hotel is located in the heart of the old town of La Reole, inside the first medieval enclosure, which underscores its historic importance in the urban fabric. It was registered as a Historic Monument by order of 26 November 2012, including the entire building and its backyard. Today, it belongs to the commune, which plans to make it a cultural hub, marking a new phase in its history, from a residential function to a public and cultural use.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as a protected monument and describe its architectural features. The precise location at 9 Peysseguin Street, as well as its Insee code (33352) and its membership in the Gironde department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, are also documented. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated as fair, with an address validated by GPS coordinates and the Merimée base.
