Origin and history
The Pommeret Hotel is a private hotel built in the early 17th century as part of an urban development plan to develop residential housing between the Etape and the Martroy in Orléans. Its typical architectural features of the era include brick facades with links and stone bands, as well as imposing dardian roofs. These elements reflect the aesthetic canons of the early 17th century, marking a period of transition to classicism.
Since the 18th century, the hotel has undergone significant changes, particularly in terms of the holes and interior arrangements. These changes continued into the 19th century, partially altering its original structure. However, a room on the first floor of the west wing retains a complete 18th century décor, while the large living room on the ground floor illustrates the fashionable styles under the Restoration, with characteristic panels.
The Pommeret Hotel was entered in the inventory of historical monuments by order of 21 May 1987. This protection applies specifically to the north facade and roofs of the house body, the facades and roofs of the wing in return on the street, the fence wall with its gate, as well as the stairwell. These protected elements demonstrate the heritage importance of the building, both for its architecture and for its urban history.
Located at 15 rue d'Escurres in Orléans, Loiret, the hotel is now occupied by the Regional Chamber of Accounts. Its location and state of conservation make it a privileged witness to the architectural and social evolution of the city, from its construction in the seventeenth century to its contemporary uses.
