Origin and history

The Pusel hotel is a mansion built in the 16th century, located place de la Baille in Luxeuil-les-Bains, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. This iconic building, which was listed as a historical monument in 1997, illustrates Renaissance civil architecture. It was first used as a private residence before hosting a secondary school and then being converted into a museum dedicated to veterans.

According to the sources, the hotel was built by Henri Pusel, captain of Baudoncourt Castle in the 16th century. In the 18th century, the site experienced notable expansions, with the construction of a northern building body and interior developments. These changes reflect the changing needs and social status of its owners throughout the centuries.

Today, the Pusel Hotel belongs to the town of Luxeuil-les-Bains. Its inscription as a historic monument in 1997 covers the main hotel, excluding buildings in return on the Rue de la Tour-du-Bailli. The museum it now houses values local heritage and military history, while at the same time demonstrating the cultural importance of this place throughout the eras.
