Origin and history

The villa La Billardière is a house located in Hanches, in the department of Eure-et-Loir, in the region of Centre-Val de Loire. This monument, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 12 July 2018, is distinguished by its architecture and landscaped environment preserved. The protection concerns the entire villa, its fence walls with grids bearing monograms, as well as the floors of the garden and the elements built on the plot.

Hanches, a rural town near Chartres, reflects a typical architectural heritage of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Villas of this type, built in the 19th or 20th centuries, often bear witness to the influence of wealthy owners or local notables. Their preservation makes it possible to understand the evolution of lifestyles and aesthetic tastes in a France in the midst of social and economic change.

These residences, surrounded by neat gardens, served as both a resort and a symbol of social status.
