Portal including vantals: registration by order of 30 April 1946

Origin and history

The house at 10 rue du Consulate in Aurillac is an 18th century building, classified as a Historic Monument. It is distinguished by its gate, registered by decree of 30 April 1946, which opens on an arcade courtyard. This gate, with its vantals, is one of the protected elements of the building.

Inside, the house houses a gallery on the first floor, with curved windows and a rib arch. An underground, probably linking this house to nearby Saint-Etienne Castle, adds a mystery to its architectural history. These features reflect the style and construction techniques of the time.

The location of the house, in the centre of Aurillac, and its precise address (10 rue du Consulate) are attested by the Mérimée and Monumentum bases. The accuracy of its geographical location is considered fair (note of 5/10), and photographs licensed under Creative Commons, such as those of Pymuss, document its current appearance.
