Origin and history

The house of 22 Place du Martray, located in Paimpol in the Côtes-d'Armor, is an emblematic building of Breton medieval architecture. Built mainly in the 15th century, it illustrates the construction techniques in wooden strips and torchi, typical of this period. Its facades and roofs, protected since 1964, testify to the preservation of the local heritage.

The house is also marked by the history of Nicolas Armez, born in 1754 in this place. Priest and MP, he embodies the link between this monument and the political and religious history of the region. The building, partially listed as historical monuments, remains a symbol of Paimpol's architectural and cultural heritage.

The protected elements, i.e. facades and roofs, were officially recognized by a decree of 11 August 1964. This protection highlights the importance of this building in the urban landscape of Paimpol, while emphasizing its role in local collective memory.
