Origin and history

The house located Place des Halles in Champlitte is a plan building in L, built during the 2nd half of the 16th century. It is distinguished by its staircase tower in square plane screws, its vaulted basement in cradle, and a partly coated stone façade. A door decorated with a cap crowned with a cartridge bears the inscription "IHS/MA/ESPOIRE IN GOD", the 1578 vintage, as well as the initials "PA", bearing its Renaissance origin. Inside, a fireplace decorated in the west wing and a flamboyant niche at the north corner highlight the mix of artistic styles of the era.

The bays on the garden, to the west, are decorated with cross mouldings with prismatic leave, characteristic of Renaissance architecture. The building, consisting of a ground floor, two floors and a high floor, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 21 December 2000 for its facades and roofs. Its exact address, 11 Place des Halles, and its Insee code (70122) confirm its anchoring in the heritage of the Haute-Saône, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

The accuracy of its location is estimated to be "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), and a photo licensed under Creative Commons (credit: German) documents its current appearance. Although the practical information about its visit or current use (rent, guest rooms) is not specified, its status as a Historic Monument makes it a major architectural witness of the second half of the sixteenth century in the region.
