Origin and history
The house in Rahon, in the Jura, is a building built in the 2nd quarter of the 18th century, specifically in 1733, on the site of an earlier dwelling destroyed by fire. This building, typical of the Burgundy rural architecture of the period, has been partially preserved and completed over the centuries. In 1835, a barn and two stables were added, reflecting the evolution of local agricultural needs.
The house welcomed Louis Laloy (1874–1944), renowned musicologist and sinologist, close to Claude Debussy. Its passage in these places bears witness to the cultural appeal of the region in the early twentieth century. The ensemble, including the facades, roofs and a courtyard well, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 1 March 1995, highlighting its heritage value.
Today, the house is located 6 rue de l'Eglise in Rahon, in the Jura department (39), in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Although its GPS location is approximate (estimated at 5/10), it remains a remarkable example of 18th century rural habitat, marked by subsequent transformations and a notable cultural history.
