The façade: inscription by decree of 11 December 1925
Origin and history
The house located 64 Place Duroc in Pont-à-Mousson is a monument whose facade was recognized for its heritage interest. Classified by ministerial decree on December 11, 1925, it illustrates the civil architecture of the city at the beginning of the twentieth century, period of reconstruction and urban expansion in the region. Its inscription in the title of Historic Monuments bears witness to its aesthetic or historical value, although the available archives do not specify the exact criteria for this protection.
Pont-à-Mousson, integrated into the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle in the Grand Est region (former Lorraine), experienced at that time a dynamic linked to its industry and its role as a commercial hub. Bourgeois houses, like that of Place Duroc, often reflect the social status of their owners and the influence of the artistic currents of the time. Their preservation makes it possible to study the urban evolution and lifestyles of the affluent classes in the small industrial towns of north-eastern France.
