Origin and history

The house of Benoît-Raclet is located in the commune of Romanèche-Thorins, in Saône-et-Loire, in the region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. It is distinguished by its typical 19th century architecture, with a central body flanked by two wings in return and a wing perpendicular to the rear. The building, covered with hollow tiles, retains a monumental staircase protected by a foreground called "talapon". Inside, the dining room, which has been listed as a historic monument since 2013, is decorated with painted panelling that mimics marble and wood, as well as with greyberries representing child scenes and seasonal activities.

The ground floor also houses a small museum in the old kitchen and entrance hall. The house, whose plan has not changed since the beginning of the twentieth century, illustrates the bourgeois way of life of the time in Burgundy. Its designation for historical monuments in 2013 specifically concerns the dining room and its decor, highlighting the heritage value of its interior elements.

The exact address of the house is 10 rue Benoît-Raclet, in an area where localization accuracy is considered "a priori satisfactory". Although information on its current vocation (visits, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its protected status makes it a notable architectural and decorative testimony of the Mâcon region.
