Façade sur rue et Roof : inscription by decree of 13 March 1945

Origin and history

The house in Le Mans, in the Sarthe department, is a historic monument whose street façade and roof were inscribed by order of 13 March 1945. This ranking reflects its heritage importance, although the details of its history and construction remain poorly documented in available sources. In Le Mans, as in many cities in the Pays de la Loire, old houses often reflect the urban and architectural evolution of the region.

These buildings, sometimes seemingly modest, played a central role in the daily lives of the inhabitants, sheltering artisanal, commercial or residential activities. Their preservation allows us to understand the ways of life and social organization of past times, even in the absence of detailed archives of their exact origin.
