Origin and history

The house at 10 rue Bicoquet in Caen is a historical monument built in the 17th century. This building, typical of the civil architecture of that time, is distinguished by its facade and roof, which were officially protected by a registration order dated 25 June 1929. These architectural elements reflect the styles and techniques of construction in vogue in the region at this time.

In the context of the seventeenth century, Caen was a dynamic city, marked by its administrative and commercial role in Lower Normandy. Bourgeois houses, such as the one on Rue Bicoquet, often illustrated the prosperity of owners, usually merchants, notables or wealthy artisans.
