Origin and history

The house of Lons-le-Saunier, built in the late 19th century, is part of the development of the thermal district initiated in 1894. This bath and park facility marked a period of urban expansion, attracting architects and wealthy residents. The house, the work of architect Augustin Bidot, served both as a residence and as a professional agency after 1900.

The building is distinguished by its facade decorated with neo-Gothic motifs, while its interior adopts decorations inspired by neo-Henri II and neo-Louis XV styles. These aesthetic choices reflect architectural eclecticism in vogue at the time, combining historical references and bourgeois modernity. The house, including its fence on the avenue, was listed in the Historical Monuments by order of 4 July 1996.

Augustin Bidot, architect and owner, conceived this building as a testimony of his know-how, while participating in the beautification of a district dedicated to thermalism. The location on Camille-Prost Avenue, now well identified, confirms its anchoring in the local heritage. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated as satisfactory a priori (level 6/10).
