Origin and history
The Maison la Guérimande, located in Loriol-sur-Drôme in Drôme, is a historical monument dating from the 2nd half of the 18th century. This rectangular house body, developed on three levels, illustrates the neo-classical style by its interior and exterior decorative elements. Its facades and roofs, as well as the interior stairwell, were protected by a registration order in 1992, highlighting its heritage importance.
In 1874, the property underwent major changes: an appendix was added to the northern facade, while a landscape park and a greenhouse were built. The interior decor, marked by woodwork and false marble trompe l'oeil, reflects the artistic influence of the era. Today, the house is not open for public visit, but it hosts guest rooms and seasonal rentals, perpetuating its residential use.
The monument embodies the architectural and social evolution of bourgeois houses in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in the 19th century. Its inscription in the title of Historical Monuments reflects the desire to preserve a heritage representative of the stylistic and functional transformations of private residences between the 18th and 19th centuries.
