Choir: registration by decree of 12 January 1931

Origin and history

The church Saint-Pierre de Solterre is a Catholic religious building located in the municipality of Solterre, Loiret department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Built in the 16th century, it is distinguished by its typical Renaissance architecture, including its stone arches and masonry vaults. The building is characterized by a unique nave and uncarved capitals, reflecting the stylistic influences of the time.

The church was partially listed as historical monuments in 1931, more specifically its choir, by a decree dated 12 January this year. This protection highlights its heritage importance, thanks in particular to preserved architectural elements such as the bedside bay, dating back to the 16th century, with its two sledges. The building now belongs to the municipality of Solterre and remains a testimony of local religious and architectural history.

In the 16th century, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, parish churches like Saint-Pierre played a central role in community life. They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for the inhabitants, reflecting the social and religious practices of the time. The buildings of this period, often marked by stylistic transitions between Gothic and Renaissance, illustrate the evolution of construction techniques and artistic tastes.
