Origin and history

The church Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte de Saint-Cyr-les-Colons is a religious building located in the department of Yonne, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Built at the end of the 12th century, it illustrates the medieval Christian architectural style of this period, with attested repairs in the 16th and 18th centuries.

The building was officially listed as historic monuments on March 30, 1995, recognizing its heritage value. Owned by the commune of Saint-Cyr-les-Colons, the church is located precisely at 5006 F Rue du Colombier, in a rural setting characteristic of the Yonne.

In the 12th century, parish churches like Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte played a central role in the lives of local communities. They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for social and administrative events. Burgundy, a region marked by an agricultural and wine-growing economy, saw these buildings become symbols of stability and faith for the surrounding populations.
