Origin and history

The church of Ollières is a religious building built between the 10th and 11th centuries, located in the village of the same name, in the department of Var. This monument, classified among the Historical Monuments, is distinguished notably by its portal, which was inscribed by ministerial decree on 19 October 1928. The location of the building, although documented, remains approximate, with an accuracy assessed as fair according to the criteria of the Merimée base.

At that time, in the Provençal region, churches played a central role in community life. They served not only as a place of worship, but also as a gathering point for the inhabitants, reflecting the social and religious organization of the medieval era. The religious constructions of this period were often modest, adapted to local resources and the needs of small rural communities such as Ollières.

The church, owned by the commune, thus embodies both an architectural and a historical heritage, rooted in the daily lives of its inhabitants for more than a millennium.
