Origin and history
The building in Boussac, built in the 18th century, served as offices and housing for public officials of perception and vicinal service. This historic monument is distinguished by its typical civil architecture of the period, incorporating neat decorative elements, especially at the level of the balconies.
The two windows on the first floor open onto granite balconies, decorated with wrought iron grilles inspired by Louis XV. The symmetrical patterns, composed of C and S curves finished in windings, as well as the lobes arranged in fan, reflect a craftsmanship characteristic of the eighteenth century. These balconies, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 28 October 1963, illustrate the elegance of the metal works of this period.
The building, owned by the commune of Boussac, is located in Place Gambetta, in the Creuse department. Although its GPS location is considered "a priori satisfactory", little information is available on its current accessibility (visits, contemporary use). Its heritage interest lies primarily in the exceptional preservation of its architectural elements, which are witnesses to the administrative and residential functions of the Ancien Régime.
