Bas-relief representing Saint-Julien-l'Hospitalier embedded in the facade: inscription by decree of 27 February 1925

Origin and history

The building located at 42 rue Galande, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, dates from the 14th century. This building is distinguished by a bas-relief embedded in its façade, representing Saint-Julien-l-Hospitalier. This sculptural element, typical of medieval art, was classified as Historical Monument by decree of 27 February 1925, emphasizing its heritage and religious importance.

The rue Galande, located in the Latin Quarter, is known for its medieval history and its role in the intellectual and religious life of Paris. The buildings of this period, often built of stone, reflect the architectural techniques and urban needs of the period. The bas-relief of 42 Galande Street illustrates the devotion to Saint-Julien-l的Hospitalier, protector of travellers and the poor, a recurring theme in the Christian iconography of the Middle Ages.

The 1925 ranking preserved this artistic and historical testimony. Today, the building is located in a neighborhood rich in monuments, where medieval heritage and contemporary urban life combine. The approximate location, noted as "passable" (level 5/10), suggests that clarification could be provided for further study.
