Origin and history

The building at 25 rue de Decize in Moulins (Allier) is a bourgeois house built in the 18th century, representative of bourbonese architecture. Its facades, built in pink and brown polychrome bricks, form geometric diamond patterns. The main building overlooks the street, supplemented by a body in return and a higher rear building, typical of the urban homes of that time.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a winter garden was added to the building, illustrating the 1900 style by its blend of cast iron and ceramic. This garden, glazed on two sides, rests on a white limestone base and a structure in ironwork painted in green, surmounted by a wrought iron balustrade. Inside, the walls and ceiling are entirely covered with flaming sandstone, with a decoration divided into two parts: coloured tiles at the bottom and floral patterns in relief at the top.

The building was partially protected as historical monuments on 4 February 1976. The facades and roofs were inscribed, while the winter garden was classified, recognizing its exceptional heritage value. This building reflects both 18th-century domestic architecture and the aesthetic changes of the early 20th century.

The precise location of the building is confirmed by the Mérimée and Monumentum bases, with an official address at 25 rue de Decize, in the Allier department (region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). Its state of conservation and its openness to the public are not specified in available sources.
