Origin and history
The Lacroix-Laval hotel, located in Tournus in Saône-et-Loire, is an emblematic monument of the sixteenth century. It is distinguished by its preserved architecture, in particular its facade classified as early as 1922 and its interior elements, including a steeped beam typical of the Renaissance. The building illustrates the Burgundian civil heritage of this period, marked by a fusion of medieval and reborn styles.
The protection of the hotel extends to several parts: the facades and roofs, the inner courtyard "J" with its staircase, as well as a first floor apartment, whose decorations and 16th century beam were inscribed in 1934. A 2016 decree supplemented this protection by including additional spaces, with the exception of the façade on the street of the Republic, already classified. These measures reflect the heritage importance of the site, both for its architecture and for its testimony on the easy Renaissance habitat.
Located at 17 rue de la République and 24 quai de Verdun, the hotel enjoys a central location in Tournus, a city marked by its medieval history and its role in river trade thanks to the Saône. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated as fair (note 5/10), based on available data. Although the information on its current accessibility (visits, accommodation) is not detailed, its status as a Historic Monument makes it a point of interest for the regional heritage.
