Origin and history

The building at 23 rue Georges-Clémenceau in Montbéliard is a bourgeois house built in the early 19th century. Originally, two buildings of communes framed a gate separating the courtyard from the garden. One of these communes was demolished in 1975, while the garden was reduced in size after 1945, when the Place de la Lizaine was built. The balcony is ironed with the monogram "PLLS", the exact origin of which remains unknown.

The building has been classified as a Historical Monument and has been partially protected since 1992: its facades, roof and interior staircase are included in the additional inventory. The property now belongs to a private company. The exact address, confirmed by the Merimée base and GPS coordinates, places the building in the Doubs department, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté region.

The location of the building is estimated to be "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), according to geographical accuracy criteria. No information is available on its accessibility to the public, whether it be visits, room rental or accommodation. Available sources are limited to Monumentum data and the internal archives of the Merimée database.
