Origin and history

This building, located at 28 rue du Mirail in Bordeaux, dates from the first half of the seventeenth century. This is an example of the civil architecture of this period, although its initial characteristics were partially modified in subsequent work. The building is classified as a Historical Monument, with specific protection excluding the adjacent brick building.

Around 1770, during the second half of the 18th century, the façade on the street and the interior elements (pathways, panellings, paintings) were thoroughly redesigned. These transformations are attributed to Laclotte, the masterpiece mentioned in the archives. The building thus illustrates the evolution of architectural tastes between the 17th century classicism and the more adorned 18th century style.

The exact address, 28 rue du Mirail, is referenced in the Mérimée base under the code Insee 33063, confirming its anchoring in the historic Bordeaux district. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be fair (note 5/10), and protected elements were registered by order of 13 January 1999. No information is available on its current access (visit, rental, etc.).
