Origin and history

The building in Toulouse, built in the first half of the 19th century, is a villa of Italian style remarkable for its terracotta decorations. These elements come from the Virebent factory, famous for its architectural productions in Occitanie. The building stands out for its position at the corner of an island, offering two facades on streets and a third on the Patte-d'Oie Square, all structured by large arcades. Although the interior distribution has been changed over time, the exterior harmony and corresponding roofs have been preserved, justifying their inclusion in the Historical Monuments by order of 27 May 1993.

The villa embodies the influence of Italian models in the 19th century Toulouse architecture, a period marked by stylistic eclecticism and urban growth. The facades, enriched with terracotta, reflect local know-how and taste for ornaments, typical of bourgeois residences of the time. The manufacturer Virebent, supplier of decorative elements, was then a major player in the region, helping to shape the architectural landscape of Toulouse and its surroundings.

The official address of the building, 2 avenue de Lombez, corresponds to the code Insee 31555 of the Haute-Garonne, in the former Midi-Pyrénées region (now Occitanie). Despite an approximate GPS location suggesting another street, official sources (Mérimée base) confirm its historic location. Legal protections deal specifically with facades and roofs, highlighting their heritage value in the Toulouse urban fabric.
