Origin and history
This 18th-century building, located in Puy-en-Velay in Haute-Loire, is a typical example of the mansions of the time. He could have served as a summer residence for the bishops of Puy, although this hypothesis is not confirmed with certainty. Its structure comprises two floors on ground floor, with a secondary upper floor with small low windows. Each level was organized into two main rooms, reflecting a functional and symmetrical architecture.
The interior decorations, dating from the Louis XV period, illustrate the climax of decorative art in Auvergne and Velay at the end of the 18th century. Among the protected elements are the stairwell with its ramp and decoration, as well as the woodwork, hazes and painted panels of the large living room on the first floor. These characteristics led to its classification as Historic Monument by decree of 30 April 1969, highlighting its exceptional heritage value.
The building is located at 14 Clément-Charbonnier Avenue, in an area of poor geographical accuracy (level 5/10). Although its current use (visit, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its status as a listed monument makes it an important testimony to the civil and religious architecture of the region at this time.
