Origin and history

The building located 45 rue Lecourbe in Lons-le-Saunier is a rental building built after 1756, probably between 1798 and 1809. It illustrates the civil architecture of the late eighteenth century, with facades and roofs typical of this period. Its interior staircase, with a wrought iron ramp, bears witness to the craftsmanship of the time.

The building also housed a café on Rue des Salines, reflecting the social and commercial life of Lons-le-Saunier at that time. The building was partially protected by an order of 4 July 1996, covering its facades, roof and staircase. This protection underlines its heritage interest in the urban context of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

The location of the building, although documented (45 rue Lecourbe), is considered to be of poor accuracy (note 5/10). The building remains a representative example of rental housing and sociability under the Old Regime and the French Revolution.
