Origin and history

The Gallic building, formerly called Gallic Hotel, is a building located on 2 boulevard Féart in Dinard, Ille-et-Vilaine. This building, registered with the Historical Monuments by order of 3 October 2019, is distinguished by its facades, roofs, and interiors, including elevators, excluding shops and apartments. The protection also extends to the annex building and the inner courtyard, reflecting the heritage importance of the architectural complex.

Dinard, a renowned seaside resort in Brittany, experienced a marked urban development in the early 20th century, with the construction of hotels and luxury buildings. These buildings, often linked to the rise of tourism, bear witness to the architecture of the period and the increasing attraction for sea baths. The Gallic Hotel, transformed into a building, embodies this fascist period, where the elegance of the facades and the comfort of the interiors attracted an easy clientele. Although details of its original construction or historic owners are missing, its recent listing underscores its heritage value.

The protection of the building The Gallic covers specific elements, such as facades, roofs, and interiors of the main building, with the exception of private spaces such as apartments. This distinction shows a desire to preserve the common parts and representative architectural elements, while respecting the contemporary uses of the building. The inner courtyard, also protected, adds a heritage dimension to the whole, often characteristic of hotels of that time.
