Facade and Roof: Registration by Order of 28 March 1936

Origin and history

The building in Phalsburg, Moselle department, is a monument whose remarkable elements – facade and roof – were inscribed by ministerial decree in 1936. This building, although little documented in the available sources, illustrates the civil architecture of the city, marked by its urban and military history, especially because of its proximity to Vaubanian fortifications. Phalsbourg, integrated into the Grand Est region (formerly Lorraine), has experienced an urban evolution influenced by its strategic role at the borders of the Kingdom of France, then of modern France.

The buildings of this period, often constructed of stone or brick, reflect the residential and commercial needs of a growing population, as well as local architectural standards. Their preservation, like that of this building, bears witness to the attention paid to the regional built heritage since the beginning of the twentieth century.
