Origin and history
This building in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris occupies the location of a mansion built in 1719 for Terray de Rozières. The building quickly changed hands: ceded in 1738 to his nephew, it was immediately sold to the Receiver General for Finance Launay de Saint-Vallery. The latter's family retained him until 1835, when he was acquired by Lemarchand, and then sold in 1856 to the banker Mirès, who owned him until his bankruptcy in 1865.
As early as 1807, the hotel served as an annex to the furnished hotel in Europe. A major reconstruction took place in 1843, deeply transforming the building. In 1990, its facades, roofs and coach passage were inscribed in the Historic Monuments, recognizing their heritage value. Today, the building belongs to a private company and retains traces of its aristocratic and financial history.
The location, at 99 rue de Richelieu, places the building in a neighborhood marked by the history of finance and power. Its architecture reflects the urban transformations of the 19th century, between aristocratic heritage and Haussmannian modernization. However, the accuracy of its historical location remains limited (level 5/10), depending on available sources.
