Façades and roofs on streets: inscription by decree of 12 April 1974; Front and interior decoration of the creamery, rue Rambuteau: inscription by order of 23 May 1984

Origin and history

The building located at 63 rue Rambuteau and 143 rue Saint-Martin, in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, is a historic monument whose facades and roofs were inscribed by ministerial decree. This building, typical of the Parisian urban heritage, is distinguished by its front and interior decoration of creamery, also protected for their heritage value.

The building was protected in two stages: the facades and roofs were registered on 12 April 1974, while the front and interior decoration of the cream factory received a supplementary inscription on 23 May 1984. These measures reflect the importance attached to preserving the capital's emblematic architectural and commercial elements.

Located in a central district of Paris, this building is part of a dense urban environment, marked by an ancient commercial and artisanal history. Rambuteau Street, in particular, is known for its dynamic economic activity, while Saint-Martin Street, a historic axis, connects districts with various vocations, from the Marais to the city centre.
