Origin and history

The building at 9 rue Royale, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, dates from the 4th quarter of the 18th century. It is part of the architectural planning designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, one of the major urban planners of the time, whose project was executed by Louis Le Tellier. The facade on the street, characteristic of this classic style, was classified as Historic Monument by decree of 31 January 1949, reflecting its heritage importance.

Inside, two lounges on the first floor retain their original décor, created in 1785 by Pierre Fixon, a craftsman or artist decorator of the time. These spaces, together with the fronts on the courtyard, the staircase and its cage, were inscribed by order of 5 November 1994. The building thus illustrates the elegance of Parisian private hotels at the end of the Ancien Régime, combining classical rigour and decorative refinement.

Today, the building belongs to a private company, but its protected status guarantees the preservation of its most remarkable elements. The location, in the heart of an iconic Paris district, reinforces its historical and architectural interest. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated as fair (note 5/10), based on available data.
