Origin and history
The building at 6 rue de la Treille in Clermont-Ferrand is a stratified historical building, mixing medieval heritage and 17th and 18th century transformations. The building, retouched between 1608 and 1613, retains an 18th century facade, while its interior courtyard illustrates the refined craftsmanship of the late Renaissance in Auvergne. Architectural details, such as the triangular pediment gate, carved chambranles or adorned cartridges, testify to local expertise.
The circular angle turret, built on a fan concave tube, and the front arch key adorned with a smiling Bacchus dated 1605, are significant elements. This harpsichord is surmounted by a baroque cartridge, composed of a convex mirror surrounded by interlaced leathers, placed on an oriental head and crowned with an angelot. These patterns reflect the influence of classical and mannerist styles in the region.
Ranked a Historic Monument in 1986 for its courtyard façades, the building embodies the architectural evolution of Clermont-Ferrand, between medieval tradition and reborn elegance. His portal and his sculptures, such as langelot or the pampres symbolizing the vine, underline the role of artisans in urban beautification at that time.
The exact address, 6 rue de la Treille, and its Insee code (63113) confirm its anchor in Puy-de-Dôme, in the heart of a city marked by its built heritage. However, the accuracy of its location remains poor (note 5/10), according to available data.
The protected elements are limited to the interior facades, inscribed by order of 1 July 1986. No information is provided on its current accessibility (visits, rental) or contemporary use, although its historical and artistic interest is recognized.
