Origin and history
The building at 12 Alfred Sabatier Street in Pézenas dates from the late 15th or early 16th century. Its facade, typical of the Renaissance, is decorated with windows characteristic of this period. The building also features a side door on the Rue du Château, with an arch in basket handle, as well as a vestibule leading to an inner staircase at right angle, leading to a small courtyard.
The protection of this monument was formalized by an order of 25 November 1957, covering facades, roofs, vestibule and stairway. These architectural elements reflect the stylistic influences of the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, marked by a search for elegance and symmetry. The location of the building, in the historic centre of Pézenas, highlights its integration into an urban fabric rich in medieval and reborn heritage.
No information is available on the specific original use of the building or its potential owners. The sources are limited to its architectural description and protection under the Historic Monuments. The accuracy of its location is estimated as satisfactory a priori (note 6/10), based on available geographical data.
