Origin and history

The buildings located 28-30 rue du Colonel-Thiébaut in Rosières-aux-Salines date from the second half of the 16th century. Originally conceived as a private hotel, this building housed the Town Hall until 1718, marking its importance in the local administration of the modern era. Its architecture reflects the civil characteristics of the late Renaissance in Lorraine, a region then under ducal influence before its progressive attachment to the kingdom of France.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 30 September 1994, the whole includes, among other things, a remarkable porch, protected as historical monuments (cadastre AC 47, 49). The location, although noted as "a priori satisfactory" (note 6/10), places these buildings at the heart of the historic urban fabric of Rosières-aux-Salines, in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle. Their preservation bears witness to the evolution of civic and residential uses in small cities in Lorraine between the 16th and 18th centuries.

No information is available on any initial owners or sponsors or on major changes after 1718. Sources are limited to data from the Merimée database and the Creative Commons license for visuals, without details of current accessibility (visits, rental) or interior condition. Colonel Thiébaut Street, where the monument is located, bears the name of a local military figure not specified in the archives consulted.
