Origin and history
The Church of the Holy Spirit of the Gondols is a parish Catholic church located in Choisy-le-Roi, Val-de-Marne, in the suburbs of Paris. It is located in the Gondoles district, which explains its local name. This religious monument was built to meet the spiritual needs of this developing neighbourhood in the early twentieth century.
The stained glass windows of the church, made by artist Jacques Avonet, are contemporary in style, adding a modern artistic touch to this religious building. Their presence reflects a desire to combine tradition and modernity in the sacred architecture of the time.
The church experienced several phases of construction and enlargement. It was originally built in 1908 to serve the new Gondoles district. In 1929, the chief architect of the historic monuments Jean-Marie Findlot added a transept, then a new choir was assistant in 1958, marking the architectural and liturgical evolutions of the building over the decades.
