Origin and history

Saint Martin Church is a parish Catholic church located in Choisy-le-Roi, Val-de-Marne, in the suburbs of Paris. It depends on the diocese of Créteil and is dedicated to Saint Martin, Apostle of the Gauls. Its modern architecture, with a rectangular flat roof structure and a column-shaped bell tower, distinguishes it from traditional churches. It can accommodate up to 400 faithful and is surrounded by a small cloister, parish premises and a weekly chapel. Its urban environment is marked by large housing units with moderate rent.

Originally, Benedictines from the priory of Saint-Benoît d'Étiolles, a monastic community, were responsible for the parish of Choisy-le-Roi. In 1966, this community founded the parish center Saint Martin d'Orly, which includes the present church. The site was renovated in 2020. The parish covers districts of Choisy-le-Roi and part of Orly, and is animated by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. It hosts solidarity movements and groups of the Young Christian Workers (JOC).

The church is characterized by its multicolored windows and its integration into a functional parish complex, including houses for priests and administrative spaces. Its location, at the border of Orly, reflects its central role in the spiritual and community life of the surrounding neighborhoods. Sunday Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 9.30 a.m., highlighting its anchoring in local life.
