Origin and history

The Saint-Martin church of Olivet, located in the municipality of the same name in the Centre-Val de Loire region, is an emblematic monument dating back to the thirteenth century. It is the oldest parish of Olivet, showing a medieval heritage marked by Gothic architecture still visible in its three original spans. The building underwent major extensions in the 15th and 16th centuries, with the addition of a north side and a new choir, reflecting the evolution of the liturgical and demographic needs of the community.

In the 19th century, the church was thoroughly restored in accordance with existing structures. This campaign included a new western facade and side chapels, partially modernizing the building while preserving its historic character. The whole, including the entire church, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 20 March 2008, highlighting its heritage value. Today, the building belongs to the municipality of Olivet and remains a place of worship and local memory.

Available sources, such as the Monumentum database and the Mérimée data, specify that the church is located at 90 Rue Pierre Beaulieu, in the Loiret department (45), in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Its Insee code (45232) and its communal ownership status make it an accessible public good, although the practical information on the visits or services offered is not detailed in the archives consulted.
