Origin and history

Hotel de Kersalio is a private hotel located in the Croisic, in the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region. Its inside staircase, of ramp-on-rampe type, is the protected element, inscribed as historical monuments since 17 December 2021. The building is located at 10-11 Quai de la Petite Chambre, on cadastral plots AK 166 and 167.

The inscription concerns only the staircase and its cage, highlighting their architectural value. This type of staircase, characteristic of private hotels, often reflects the influence of classical or local styles in the urban planning of port cities like Le Croisic. Recent protection (2021) indicates a late recognition of its heritage interest.

The Croisic, a coastal town of Loire-Atlantique, has had a history marked by fishing, maritime trade and tourism. Private hotels, such as Kersalio, show the prosperity of some local families, often linked to these activities. These buildings played a social and economic role, sheltering elites or serving as reception places. Their preservation makes it possible today to understand the urban and architectural evolution of the region.
