Church: registration by decree of 10 November 1925

Origin and history

The church of Saint-Hélier, located in the Côte-d This building, typical of Burgundian medieval architecture, reflects the stylistic and technical evolutions of these two hinged periods. Its inscription in the title of the Historical Monuments by decree of 10 November 1925 bears witness to its heritage importance and the desire to preserve this local heritage.

The building of the church spans several centuries, with architectural traces dated from the 12th century, a period marked by the rise of Romanesque churches, and additions or modifications in the 15th century, a period when Gothic style dominates. These transformations illustrate the evolution of liturgical needs and construction techniques, as well as the rooting of the village community around its place of worship. The building, owned by the commune, remains a central symbol of the religious and social life of Saint-Hélier.

Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum base, specify that the church is located at 1 Rue du Moulin, although geographical accuracy is considered poor (note of 5/10). This approximate location reflects the documentation challenges of rural monuments, often less studied than those of large cities. Despite this, the church of Saint-Hélier retains an important place in the Burgundy heritage, as evidenced by the legal protections it enjoys.
