Origin and history
La Ferme du Colombier, located in Labry (Meurthe-et-Moselle, Grand Est), is a typical example of a closed-yard farm, an architectural model common in the Lorraine countryside. Dated from the 3rd quarter of the 16th century, it retains original elements bearing the date of 1561, engraved on certain structures. This type of farm, organised around a central courtyard, reflected a collective and defensive agricultural organisation, characteristic of the rural areas of modern times.
The farm underwent major changes in the 18th and 19th centuries, including partial reconstruction of the courtyard in the 18th century. These transformations illustrate the evolution of agricultural needs and construction techniques, while preserving traces of its Renaissance origin. The site, including the grounds of the court, was listed in the Historic Monuments by order of 6 March 1995, recognizing its heritage value.
The precise address, 12 Jules-Rollin Street in Labry, is referenced in the Mérimée database under the code Insee 54286, attached to the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle. The GPS location is considered "very satisfactory" (note 8/10), confirming its historic location in the current urban fabric. No information is available on its contemporary use (visits, accommodation, etc.).
