André Bruyère - Architect Designer of Eyrascles, his first successful house.

Origin and history

Les Eyrascles, located in the Chanousses district of Maussane-les-Alpilles, is an emblematic achievement of architect André Bruyère. Built in 1970, it marks its first successful work, combining three bodies of buildings articulated around a courtyard: the main house, the studios and the garage. The set, designed in full agglomerated, is distinguished by its white curved roofs and beige undercoat facades, reflecting a search for harmony with the natural environment.

The architect preferred a traditional settlement, protected by the hill and close to the canal, to integrate into the landscape. The clean volumes and raw materials, marked by trowels, underline a minimalist and functional approach. The house, classified as Historic Monument in 2014, embodies a synthesis between architectural modernity and respect for the Provençal context.

The official protection covers the entire house, including the three built units and their original land right of way (cadastral parks C 844, 845, 1066 to 1068). This recognition highlights the heritage importance of Bruyère's work, a pioneer in its environmental and aesthetic approach to the era.
