Origin and history
The house of Bonnefonds is a castle located in the commune of Aizenay, in the department of Vendée, Pays de la Loire region. Mainly dating from the 16th century, it now retains only a few original architectural elements, such as a monumental fireplace, a pilastre Renaissance window and a double-armed door. These remains, re-used in later renovated buildings, reflect the historic significance of the site.
The monument was partially listed as historical monuments by order of 20 September 1994. This protection specifically concerns the Renaissance fireplace, the pilastre window and the double-armed door, emblematic elements of its architectural heritage. No information is available on its current use (visit, rental, accommodation) or on its potential historic owners.
The location of the house, at approximately 9002 Bonnefonds, 85190 Aizenay, is attested by the Mérimée and Monumentum bases. The site is associated with the canton of Aizenay and administratively depends on the prefecture of La Roche-sur-Yon. However, the accuracy of its geographical location is considered poor (level 5/10), without any additional details on its accessibility or immediate environment.
